How to Make Simple Metal Stair Runner Rods

Tuesday, August 21, 2007

Steps

  1. Cut metal rod to desired length based on your stair width. Make sure the length is long enough to allow the conduit strap to be screwed directly to the stair and not to the runner.
  2. You can take the conduit strap and file off any manufacturer codes or other stamping that may be in the metal.
  3. Take cut rod, straps and screws or nails and paint to desired finish.
  4. Repeat for each stair.
  5. Place the painted rod on the stair in the desired location.
  6. Snap a painted conduit strap on each end of the metal rod.
  7. Screw or nail down each strap to the stair using one painted screw per strap.
  8. Repeat for each stair.
