Craftsman has released, what may be, one of the coolest tool to have in your home workshop. The CompuCarve is a computer controlled table top carving machine capable of carving very detailed designs in woods, plastics and some types of high density foams. But the CompuCarve is not only capable of detailed design work but it will also perform standard wood working tasks, including ripping, cross cutting, mitering, contouring, jointing and routing.
You just create your design using the provided software on a standard personal computer, copy the design to a memory card, plug the memory card into the CompuCarve and you are ready to create beautifully detailed works of art.
The $1800 price tag is a little higher than most tools that you would find in the average home workshop but considering what you get out of it I would say it may be worth the price.
