How to build an easy pergola

I found this simple pergola plan for your yard while searching for a pergola kit to buy. I like this plan because it shows construction details that others seem to leave out. I like how this plan shows that you can cut a portion of the pergola post away in order to rest the top brace on it making it much more secure than just lag bolts would. I also like how this plan describes how to add a little detail to the top of the pergola with simple cuts. If I do end up using this plan to build a pergola in my backyard I will probably add a little more detail to the ends.
