Cigarrette Sized Surveillance Vehicles
Tuesday, January 29, 2008
It seems with the war in Iraq dominating most of today's news coverage, military innovation is beginning to pick up again.
Take this item, developed by Oklahoma State University and DARPA, a cigarette sized, unmanned aircraft that can fit right into a soldier's pocket. Using a state-of-the art, plasma propulsion system this unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has no moving parts which, for obvious reasons, makes it a much
more attractive alternative to today's complicated and expensive military UAV's.
With its ability to be easily transported and used for
spur-of-the-moment surveillance in hostile environments, this flying cigarette may prove to be a useful tool in helping soldiers stay out of harms way.
